| #20 | Well as usual work has reared it's ugly head and I'm not going to be able to make it after all. It's 5:45 am right now and I just walked in from a 12 hour shift and I have to be back at the shop by 3:30. I think the boss is trying to see how far he can push me before I snap. I was really looking forward to some "Thermal Therapy".
When this busy season at work lets up, I'd like us to get some "glider days" set up out there that I can actually make it to. I've got a couple of tricks and tools that some of the new glider guiders can use to help improve their reading of the signs for thermals and how to get the most out of high-start launches.
Again, sorry I'm not going to make it this weekend. I can use the $$$ though. LOL I've already been on overtime for the week for the last two days and our production bonus will be hitting at the same time! Cha CHING!

| #22 | Well I have nothing against the money or the work. The boss on the other hand is a real diaper. (if ya need that explained p.m. me. I won't use that kind of language in a post.) I left for work at 2:30 in the afternoon and didn't get home till 2 am. The way the weather was on the way to Ft Valley, I was wondering if everyone at the field was heading for cover as well. The bottom dropped out by 75 and I almost had to pull off the road cause the wipers could hardly keep up with it. Gotta love this Georgia weather!
Anyway, Let's keep trying to have glider fly days as often as possible. I'm bound to make it to one of them as soon as I can. LOL... Don't forget... To be there by noon I have to get up in the middle of MY night. Who else can do night flying in the middle of the day?
Edit: Oh yeah!!! Who made it and how was the flying? Inquiring minds want to know!! |

| #23 | I was there. It was a good turn out. Unfortunately I had to leave around 12, but there were a few people that travelled down from Atlanta with a lot of DLGs. We had the high start going for Kennys smaller glider and Bills Sophisticated lady. I did not get to see Mac and his Fling, but we had a great time. My Siren got some great air time, so did my Fry.
Glider day was a lot of fun and I hope we have more of them |

Man what a day! I woke up this morning sore as all get out! I got an 8 min flight on the Gambler DLG! It now has 11 hrs and 43 min of flight time on it!Mac flew his Fling for like 2 hrs straight! Not on one launch though. I've never seen Mac fly so much in one day as I did yesterday! We had loads of fun and there will be more glider days for sure! Mac and I even talked about making it an official yearly fly-in! Maybe we can have another day in a few months. Buddy and the guys from ATL had some awesone DLGs and said that if we give them enough notice, that they could get a bunch of guys to come with them. They will even bring a winch system with them!!!! Buddy said they could launch a plane a minute with it!!! TOO cool!!!!! |

| #25 | Ok... Since everyone but me and a couple of others got to have a ball when are we going to have another "glider day"? I've got to make it to one sooner or later even if I have to burn up a vacation day to do so. I'm chomping at the bit wanting to do some soaring out there and plan on bringing a couple of things besides sailplanes to share with everyone. One thing I'm planning on bringing out is a "Thermal Detector" that's easy to use and can be expanded on to cover wider areas.

| #28 | With all this overtime I'm starting to think I'm a figment of my own imagination. Not having any idea as to what is already planned for the field it's hard to just pick a date. I don't want to have a conflict with pylon races etc. This weekend is already booked with "Honey-do" list that just seems to keep growing. What's the next weekend look like? Heck... Just tell me a weekend that doesn't already have something planned and let's call it that. Let's also try to let the guys up in the Atlanta area know so they can come on down with their winch. Might as well have all the gliders we can muster!
Oh.... Although we met at the Perry show, Don't ask me to pick you out of a crowd. Bill and Mac are the only ones there that I could do that with. It takes me a bit to keep names and faces that go with them straight. Old timers is getting worse each year.

Aug. 9th sounds good, & it appears open on the calendar. I might could actually make it.
I did a little glider flying over there today & managed to find a few thermals. Just trying to learn to search for them is fun to me. Mac brought his new DLG out & flung it a few times for us too.
